Job Description

This is a 12 month limited term position through the Robinson Community Learning Center. Responsible for leading and providing oversight and directing the planning, organizing, training and implementation of educational services, and curriculum for area preschool students in collaboration with school principals and Early Childhood director. The coordinator will be the liaison with federal, state, and local agencies that support early learning for South Bend students.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the implementation of high-quality preschool programs as assigned by the director.
  • Conduct regular classroom walkthroughs for the purpose of providing constructive and supportive feedback to teachers.
  • Model, coach, and co-teach in early childhood classrooms as needed.
  • Assist with registration and enrollment of students.
  • Participate in any community education and family meetings as requested.
  • Collaborate with elementary principals to provide support to all pre-kindergarten programs.
  • Implement staff professional learning opportunities; ensuring that the adult learning is informed by current research and student-based data, and is focused on effective instruction.
  • Stay current on Indiana Early Learning Standards and support teachers with implementation of the standards within high quality instruction. Remain a learner and stay current about 5 topics related to early childhood development, developmentally appropriate curriculum, evidence -based instructional practices and research based theory and strategies.   • Develop and maintain strong relationships with the children and families of our early learners.
  • Assume other responsibilities as may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:Bachelor’s degree (4 years)
Experience:5 to 6 years
Degree (Knowledge): Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary or Early Childhood Education

Skills: Minimum of 5 years of elementary or early childhood teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Masters in education area, and/or Certification in Early Childhood Education
