Personally Identifying Information

Free E-Mails: When you sign-up to receive free Higher Ed Post e-mail information bulletins, Higher Ed Post requires that you supply your name and e-mail address.

Higher Ed Post Products: When you register to receive Higher Ed Post products, whether those products are free or paid Higher Ed Post requires that you supply your full name, e-mail address, contact information, and a unique subscriber ID. Higher Ed Post may also require demographic information. In some instances, we also collect credit card information to bill subscribers for premium products.

Anonymous Information

Higher Ed Post may also gather anonymous information, which may be used by Higher Ed Post or shared with third parties. This information does not personally identify you but may be helpful for improving the services we offer. Generally this information is collected through "traffic data" and may entail the use of "cookies," "IP addresses," or other numeric codes used to identify a computer.

Cookies: "Cookies" give users a special, random ID that are small text files, which are stored on the hard drive of a user's computer. Higher Ed Post employs cookies to recognize you and your access privileges for certain locations on the Web site. IP Addresses: Higher Ed Post also logs IP addresses for systems administration and troubleshooting purposes. (Your IP address indicates the location of your computer on the Intercom.) Higher Ed Post does not log IP addresses to track your session, nor do we link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable.

Credit Card Information: Higher Ed Post processes all payments with PayPal, one of the world's most trusted online credit card processors. So Higher Ed Post will not have your personal credit card information, as it would be handled and kept confidential by PayPal.

Higher Ed Post also shares the information it gathers in a compiled format with advertisers and other partners. The compiled format does not include personally identifying information.

WHAT DOES Higher Ed Post DO WITH THE INFORMATION IT GATHERS?

Statistical Analysis and Banner Advertising: Higher Ed Post may perform statistical analyses of user behavior in order to measure interest in the various areas of our site (for product development purposes) and to inform advertisers as to how many consumers have seen or "clicked" their advertising banners. Service Updates and E-Mail Promotions: Using the contact information and e-mail addresses provided at registration, Higher Ed Post periodically sends promotional messages to its users about services offered by Higher Ed Post and notifies users of new features or changes that may be made to these services. Higher Ed Post may also elect to send promotional messages on behalf of selected third parties whose products or services we think may be of interest to you.
