Salary: $35,715-$38,715

Motlow positions are contingent upon funding availability and budget approval.

 

General Function: 

Provides guidance and support to students in their career development and exploration.  Provides personalized career counseling, organizes workshops, and collaborates with various stakeholders to enhance students' career readiness and success.

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

Associate degree earned from a regionally accredited institution and two years of experience in student services, student affairs, advising, career advising, career counseling, or related roles.

Additional experience can be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis up to two years.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Bachelor's degree earned from a regionally accredited institution in a related field and One year experience utilizing career assessment tools and resources.

 

Related Fields include Business Administration, Human Resources, Counseling, Psychology, Education, or Management & Leadership

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one career counseling to students, assisting them in identifying career goals, exploring potential career paths, and developing action plans.
  • Conduct assessments to evaluate students' interests, skills, and values to align with suitable career opportunities.
  • Plan and conduct workshops on resume writing, interview skills, job search strategies, and other relevant career development topics.  Provide training to students on using relevant technology platforms for job searches and career development.
  • Coordinate and participate in career fairs, networking events, and employer engagement activities.
  • Proactively reach out to students to promote career services and ensure awareness of available resources.
  • Collaborate with academic advisors, faculty, and other campus departments to integrate career development into the overall student experience.
  • Stay informed about current labor market trends, industry needs, and educational requirements to provide accurate and up-to-date information to students.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive library of career resources, including job postings, internship opportunities, and industry-specific information.
  • Utilize career management systems and technology tools to assist students in exploring career options, developing career plans, and connecting with potential employers.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and career development progress.
  • Generate reports on career services utilization and outcomes for assessment and improvement purposes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the role and function of community colleges in their service areas
  • Knowledge of coordination and planning of events
  • Knowledge of applicable college policies, along with local, state, and federal laws, codes, and regulations
  • Ability to relate effectively to people of varied academic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds using tact, diplomacy, and courtesy
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and internal/external community constituents
  • Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, with employees, college administrators, community members, vendors and other stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and manage time and resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Strong computer skills including CRM software, database management, word processing, spreadsheets, and email.
  • Ability to enhance the campus community and develop collegiate culture
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive and effective professional relationships with faculty, staff, students, community partners and other stakeholders
