Job Description

Meridian Community College is seeking a passionate and experienced Electrical Technology Instructor to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge in electrical technology, specifically in both residential and commercial wiring, and a commitment to educating and mentoring students in this field.

Required Qualifications

  1. At least three years of verifiable full-time experience as an electrician, specifically in residential, commercial, and/or industrial settings.
  2. Comprehensive electrical codes knowledge, safety standards, and best practices.
  3. Proficiency in electrical system installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, including wiring, circuit breakers, transformers, and conduit systems.
  4. Experience with electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
  5. Familiarity with various tools and equipment used in the electrical trade, including testing instruments, power tools, and safety gear.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. An associate degree in Electrical Technology (or a related field) OR a Journeyman’s or Master’s electrician certificate/license OR military training in the electrical field.
  2. Demonstrated competence in each area of instruction; teaching experience at the college level is preferred.
  3. Proficiency in curriculum development, instruction, student evaluation, and advising, along with knowledge and experience with various instructional methods and strategies.
  4. Skilled in the use of instructional technologies to enhance learning and must be able to adapt to and incorporate new and emerging technologies.

The physical demands for an Electrical Technology Instructor typically include:

1. Standing and Walking: Instructors often spend extended periods on their feet while teaching and demonstrating techniques.

2. Lifting and Carrying: The ability to lift and move equipment, tools, and materials, often weighing up to 50 pounds or more, may be required.

3. Manual Dexterity: Fine motor skills are necessary for demonstrating electrical tasks, handling tools, and working with small components.

4. Climbing and Crawling: Instructors may need to access various locations, including overhead spaces or under equipment, which requires climbing ladders or crawling into tight spaces.
