Roles and Responsibilities:
- Teaches assigned theory and lab classes. Plans daily activities for students in theory and lab. Supervises students for both theory and technical project grades.
- Understand Residential & Commercial Heat & Air.
- Provide an understanding of the application of electricity in HVAC equipment.
- Understands construction and operation of gas furnaces, including electrical circuits, diagnostic, repair and service techniques. Included are components, operation and trouble-shooting of fuel and electrical problems on gas furnaces.
- Provide an emphasis on the safe operation of low-pressure boilers, including their construction, components and operation.
- Provide the basic principles of air conditioning and refrigeration, the refrigeration cycle, construction and function of components and their relation to each other.
- Provide an introduction to commercial refrigeration systems which includes troubleshooting.
- Provide guidance with mechanical air condition systems, construction, trouble-shooting and service, principles of reverse-cycle systems and service. Electrical components are emphasized. Calculation of heat load may be included.
- Maintains a safe worksite and enforces Moore Tech’s safety standards.
- Assists in the maintenance of lab and classroom equipment.
- Assists management with developing curriculum and syllabi, scheduling, budgeting, hiring, and other duties.
- Participates in college governance, committee work, student advising, etc.
- Must have good understanding of industrial & electrical application as they pertain to national, state and local electrical codes & regulations related to this field.
- Assists in maintaining requirements of industry standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned by authorized individuals.

Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge/Education/Experience
- AS or BS degree in HVAC or related Heating and Cooling field.
- Three years or more of practical work experience
- Community college or technical school teaching experience preferred.
- Excellent presentation skills including strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to motivate students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
- Computer literate in MS Office.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines.
Other Duties
- Adhere to accreditation rules and regulations to ensure standards of the machine shop program.
- Work closely with college leadership in determining program effectiveness.
- Partner with industry and College advisory board members to safeguard program success.
- Aid college staff and other faculty when and where needed.
- Assist with all College events and initiatives.
- Complete other duties needed to help drive to our Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our Organization’s Values

Not on a usual basis but may for on-going training
Physical Demands
General academic environment that requires standing and sitting on a constant basis. The candidate will perform computer work, keyboard use, and telecommunications on a frequent basis. Manual dexterity will be required to perform keyboard and writing activities on a frequent basis. Visual acuity is required on a frequent basis to read and review print and electronic documents. Reaching and pushing/pulling with a force of up to 20-50 lbs. will be performed on a usual basis. The mobility of the candidate will be sufficient to allow moving about the office and to and from the building on an ongoing basis. The physical demands must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
