Due to our incredible growth plans, SolidProfessor is adding an Engineering Manager to our team who will play a crucial role in shaping and guiding our engineering team's growth and success. You will be responsible for managing a high-performing team, developing individuals' skills, optimizing team processes, and ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic goals. This role requires a blend of technical knowledge, leadership skills, and a passion for fostering a collaborative team environment.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING IN THIS ENGINEERING MANAGER ROLE?
- Team Leadership: Oversee and mentor a team of engineers, providing regular feedback, guidance, and support for career growth. Promote a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Project Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project planning, execution, and delivery. Maintain project visibility, manage timelines, and proactively address roadblocks to keep teams on track.
- Performance Management: Set clear expectations for team members, conduct performance reviews, and work with individuals to support their development goals. Mentor engineers to foster their leadership and technical growth.
- Process Optimization: Drive improvements in engineering processes to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness. Champion best practices in development and agile methodologies to create a productive and collaborative environment.
- Collaboration and Communication: Serve as a point of contact for other teams and departments, ensuring clear and open communication across the organization. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to support project alignment and meet broader company objectives.
- Technical Acumen: While less involved in hands-on coding, maintain a strong understanding of team processes and challenges, contributing technical guidance when needed. Stay updated on industry trends to provide relevant insights that support team innovation.
WHAT DO YOU NEED FOR SUCCESS IN THIS ENGINEERING MANAGER ROLE?
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience may also be considered.
- 5+ years of engineering experience with a demonstrated progression in technical roles and responsibilities, including experience managing or mentoring team members.
- 2+ years of people management experience, ideally overseeing teams in a software development or technical environment.
- Proven expertise in agile methodologies (such as Lean UX, Scrum, or Kanban) and project management principles, with hands-on experience in process improvement and team optimization.
- Solid understanding of technical architecture, system design, and development best practices.
- Experience working cross-functionally with product managers, UX designers, and other teams to ensure project alignment and team success
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing team. Skilled in fostering a culture of growth, accountability, and continuous improvement through effective coaching and feedback.
- Technical Insight: Strong understanding of the engineering stack, tools, and methodologies, with the ability to provide technical guidance and insights that enhance team performance.
- Project and Time Management: Proficient in planning and prioritizing projects, managing timelines, and addressing roadblocks. Able to maintain project visibility and ensure timely delivery of key initiatives.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to work seamlessly across departments. Adept at building relationships and aligning with stakeholders to meet shared objectives.
- Effective Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Skilled in ensuring alignment through effective documentation and presentation.
- Problem Solving and Decision Making: Strong analytical abilities, with a talent for identifying root causes, evaluating alternatives, and implementing solutions that drive team and organizational success.

SolidProfessor has determined that the annual new hire range for this role is between $132,000 and $170,000. Your base pay will be based on a number of factors, including knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Since we appreciate transparency, we are sharing that we expect to hire for this position up to mid-range (dependent on experience/location), which will allow you the opportunity to progress as you grow in your career.
