Summary of Position

The University of New Hampshire is seeking a creative and proactive Social Media Producer to join our central marketing team. This role will be instrumental in developing and executing engaging social media content that embodies UNH’s spirit and values. Reporting to the Senior Social Media Manager, the Social Media Producer will focus on storytelling through digital media, engaging audiences and maintaining the university’s brand across various social platforms. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of social media trends, a strong sense of UNH’s mission and voice and experience collaborating with student workers to produce authentic, compelling content.

Other minimum qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, digital media or a related field.
● 2+ years of experience managing social media channels, including content creation, strategy and engagement.
● Strong proficiency in content creation tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro), Canva and mobile editing apps.
● Demonstrated experience with video production, photography and/or graphic design for social media.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and a strong sense of visual storytelling.
● Knowledge of social media trends, algorithms and best practices, especially across platforms popular with university audience

Additional Preferred Qualifications

● Experience working in higher education or a similarly structured environment.
● Experience supervising or mentoring students or interns.

Duty/Responsibility

Content Creation
○ Produce and curate high-quality multimedia content, including photos, videos, graphics, and short-form copy, for UNH’s flagship social media accounts across several platforms.
○ Capture live event coverage and behind-the-scenes moments to highlight campus life, student achievements and more.
○ Collaborate with university departments, student organizations, and external partners to source and create original content that reflects UNH’s brand and resonates with key audiences

Duty/Responsibility

Social Media Listening and Engagement
○ Contribute to the development and implementation of a social media listening strategy that supports UNH’s communication goals.
○ Monitor comments, messages and trends to foster a positive and interactive online community, actively engaging with the audience as appropriate.
○ Research and implement best practices to improve engagement rates, grow audience reach and elevate UNH’s social media presence across all channels.

Duty/Responsibility

Collaboration with Student Workers
○ Supervise and mentor a team of student workers, coordinating their efforts in capturing and creating social media content that resonates with a student audience.
○ Provide training and guidance on content creation, including photography, videography, and writing for social media, ensuring consistency with the university’s brand and voice.
○ Empower student workers to share their perspectives on campus life, promoting a genuine and relatable view of the UNH experience

Duty/Responsibility

○ Monitor social media analytics to understand content performance, audience preferences and platform trends, using data insights to refine strategies and inform future content.
○ Create monthly and quarterly reports on social media activity, presenting insights to inform team decision-making and optimize content effectiveness.
○ Stay updated on the latest trends in social media, emerging platforms and tools to ensure UNH remains at the forefront of digital engagement.
