Responsibilities*

The Operating Room Front Desk (ORFD) is largely a `behind the scenes? position, assisting and coordinating the people, equipment, schedules, etc. that enable smooth operations in and around the Operating Rooms and PACUs. As such, this person will oversee and perform Front Desk Operating Room and other clerical tasks, including but not limited to:

Work Schedule

Once fully trained the position is weekend days: Saturday and Sunday 6am – 6pm. 

The initial training for this position will optimally include one to two months of training on the day shift during the week 6am – 2pm followed by a few weeks of training on the 2pm – 10pm shift before rotating to the weekend shift. If this training schedule doesn’t work for you, please include what hours you are available to train in your cover letter (additional availability beyond Saturday/Sunday 6am-6pm is required for successful and timely training).

There will be additional meetings and trainings that are outside of those hours. These will be announced in advance and attendance is mandatory.

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
