General Job Description
Instructor, Radiography reports directly to the Department Head, Radiography. Instructor, Radiography provides quality learning experiences, facilitates the learning process, advises students, seeks professional development opportunities, and contributes to the development of curriculum courses/programs.
Duties
Classroom Instruction
- Teach all assigned courses, a range of 18-21 contact hours, for the full duration of scheduled instruction
- Ensure that each class session contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintains currency
- Teach an academic success class, as needed
- Evaluate, document, and store student progress and provide appropriate, timely feedback
- Incorporate appropriate instructional technology to enhance student learning
- Provide and/or facilitate quality experiences in laboratory and/or clinical settings to meet program needs
- Maintain cleanliness of instructional areas and laboratories
- Ensure the proper operation of classroom/lab equipment, reporting any malfunctions to the appropriate person(s)
- Assist in the budget planning process by recommending textbooks and other instructional materials, including classroom and laboratory equipment to Department Head
- Develop and distribute course syllabi according to established template providing appropriate information to students concerning course expectations and evaluation criteria
- Suggest program learning resources to include current and developing imaging technologies
- Assist department head with the maintenance of the program’s student manual, radiation safety manual, and JRCERT reports
- Assist department head with ensuring students and program faculty adhere to program policies, and report non-compliance to the department head immediately
- Investigate and document student incident reports
- Provide formative and summative academic, behavioral, and clinical advisement that is timely and supportive
- Investigate, document, and report any grievances to the Department Head, Radiography
- Assures confidentiality of student records
- Research new clinical sites
- Maintains relationship between the college and clinical site
- Assist with maintaining preceptor agreements and other clinical forms
- Advise, counsel and document student clinical behavior/performance
- Evaluate, monitor, enforce, and document all program, college, accreditation, and clinical facility policies
- Provide formative and summative academic, behavioral, and clinical advisement that is timely and supportive
- Visit clinical sites as assigned by the Clinical Coordinator and/or Department Head???
- Documents the clinical education experiences for each student supervised and assists in maintaining clinical education records??
- Immediately notifies Department Head and/or Clinical Coordinator of any clinical concern
- Maintain appropriate office hours and accessibility for students, a minimum of 5 hours a week.
- Serve as educational advisor to assigned students by providing academic and employment planning
- Participate in semester advising and registration activities as assigned
- Perform and verify graduation degree audits
- Assist in the recruitment and retention efforts of the College by helping with tour groups, senior workshops, College days, follow-up visits, and other recruiting activities
- Advocate and provide motivation for students
- Communicate student needs to Department Head
- Assures students are aware of the JRCERT standard for an accredited program
- Assures student have access and are aware of student services
- Assist with the RAD club
- Participate and help organize the radiography pinning ceremony
- Prepare and submit instructional records, reports, grades, and all other required paperwork in a timely, efficient manner meeting all deadlines, checking for accuracy, correctness and completeness of all data
- Exert an effort to remain current in discipline and instructional methods through professional development activities offered by the College and other opportunities including attendance at off-campus activities, webinars, etc., as feasible
- Must maintain ARRT registry through completion of continuing education
- Participate in program and curriculum review; offering suggestions concerning the improvement of curriculum in keeping with the mission and vision of the College
- Serve on and actively contribute to college committees as needed and as appointed by the President
- Serve on the Radiography Advisory Committee
- Participate in discipline, departmental, divisional, and institutional meetings and other announced co-curricular activities of the College
- Maintain proper communication and supportive relationships at all times with all other units and branches of the college
- Maintain posted office and on-campus hours sufficient to fulfill all contracted duties and individual professional obligations, as well as to meet the needs of the discipline, department, division, and College
- Participate in strategic planning and good to great reports
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum of Bachelor Degree or completion within 18 months of hire
- Two years clinical experience in Radiography(JRCERT, standard 3.2)
- Hold American Registry of Radiologic Technologist current registration in radiography or equivalent (JRCERT, standard 6.3)
- Willing to travel (clinical sites visits are required by the JRCERT)
- Willing to work varied hours including but not limited to evenings and weekends
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree in Radiologic Technology discipline
- Documents a minimum of one year of experience as an instructor in a JRCERT-accredited program (JRCERT, standard 3.2)
- Proficient in curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising (JRCERT, standard 3.2)
- Additional Degrees in Healthcare
- Additional professional credentials appropriate to medical imaging
- Full-time teaching experience at the Community College level
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation graphics

- Annually review all Randolph Community College safety rules and policies and be familiar with all emergency safety procedures.
