The base salary range, from the salary table(s), for this position is $96,500 - $121,600. "Off-scale salaries" and other components of pay, i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions, qualifications, and experience.

The School of Global Policy and Strategy (GPS) at UC San Diego invites applications for a tenured Associate Professor in the fields of International Relations and/or Comparative Politics with expertise in International security or regional security, broadly defined. The appointment would begin July 1, 2025.
The successful candidate will be expected to publish peer-reviewed research in leading field and subfield outlets, including in top-tier journals and/or book presses. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to instruction at GPS. This may including teaching core courses for our masters programs and undergraduate international studies program. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to service and mentorship for the school and broader university.

Candidates must hold a PhD in Political Science or a related-field (including but not limited to economics, communications, psychology, etc.).

We are particularly interested in scholars with expertise in International Relations or Comparative Politics, especially those with a focus in the areas of international security or regional security.
