Job Summary

The Director of Student Support Services & Title IX Coordinator provides leadership, coordination, and oversight to support the College’s compliance obligations. These obligations include a variety of federal and state laws and College policies prohibiting discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation. Also implements and maintains College policies and procedures to support a safe, respectful, and compliant environment for all campus constituents. Provides adequate training for employees and students specific to Title IX regulations.

Oversight of the disbursement and awareness of the Student Emergency Fund program (Chaps Helping Chaps) across campus and administrative oversight of the Chap Pantry, including supervision of support staff and volunteers.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum three years of professional experience overseeing federal/state compliance issues or working in a related role in higher education.
  • Experience developing and managing programs or projects
  • Experience preparing and delivering reports
  • Computer literacy to include proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of general office equipment, including computer, email, fax, copier, and telephone system
  • Demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to meeting the needs of diverse academic, socioeconomic, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to use discretion, exercise good judgment, resolve conflicts, and maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct interviews and communicate effectively with a broad range of constituents both orally and in writing
  • Ability to build relationships as well as balance the multiple, varying, and even conflicting interests of diverse stakeholders around a politically charged subject matter
  • Demonstrated organizational and recordkeeping skills
  • Familiar with federal and state laws and related compliance obligations for institutions of higher education such as Title IX, Title IV, Title VII, Clery Act, ADA, VAWA, and Campus SaVE Act

Essential Functions

  • Serve as primary contact for Title IX and ADA/Section 504 inquiries and complaints, oversee the prompt investigation and timely resolution of complaints alleging sexual harassment, sexual assault, or discrimination
  • Facilitate an ongoing work group to ensure campus-wide collaboration and coordination to meet Title IX and other federal and state compliance requirements
  • Provide oversight and supervision for any Title IX deputies and activities of the Title IX Program for all Midland College campuses
  • Organize and maintain summaries of grievance files, disposition/investigation reports, and records regarding complaints of sexual harassment and other discriminatory practices; this also includes annual reports of the number and nature of filed complaints and disposition of complaints
  • Develop, implement, and maintain programs and materials (print/web) that inform students, faculty, staff, and parents of Title IX rights, responsibilities, and resources
  • Provide ongoing training on Title IX for all students and employees, including updating information regarding Safe Colleges.
  • Conduct Campus Climate Survey annually; identify and address any patterns or systemic problems related to Title IX or other compliance issues
  • Stay abreast of Title IX and consumer information laws, policies, regulations, and resources; take necessary action to ensure the College remains in compliance, meeting all reporting requirements and deadlines
  • Serve as the principal contact for federal and state government inquiries under Title IX
  • Develop, implement and monitor consumer information compliance and documentation procedures, working with campus departments such as Residence Life, Registrar, Accommodations, Human Resources, Athletics, etc.
  • Work closely with the Campus Police Department to monitor and ensure compliance with the Clery Act
  • Stay abreast of state and federal regulations to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements as they relate to anti-discrimination laws (Title IV, Title VII, ADA, FERPA, VAWA)
  • Develop a network of information and contacts to provide community referrals and resources to help remove barriers to student success
  • Be the contact and lead person for the Chaps Helping Chaps (CHC)- Student Emergency Fund workgroup, coordinating meetings and helping the group set priorities and develop resources that address barriers to student success
  • Administer the Chap Helping Chaps (CHC) Emergency Fund according to the program guidelines and review and process applications.
  • Administrative oversight of the Chap Pantry, including supervision of support staff and volunteers, ordering supplies and inventory, and reviewing and processing applications.
  • Serve as a member of the CARE Team
  • Must be available to respond promptly to any incident, including nights and weekends
  • Participate in continuing education, professional and personal development opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned

Pay Statement

Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
