POSITION TITLE: Police Lieutenant
 

FLSA: Exempt
 

REPORTS TO: Chief of Police
 

LOCATION: Service Center
 

CONTRACT DAYS: 240 Days and benefits will be specified in the employee contract. Contract will be prorated based on the actual start date.
 

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Extensive experience in law enforcement, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of relevant safety and security laws and regulations.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Must be a certified Law Enforcement Officer through CLEST.
  • Preferred Experience In K-12 Educational Environment.

SUMMARY
 

The Police Lieutenant plays a crucial role in supporting the safety initiatives of the school district. Reporting to the Chief of Police, this position is responsible for implementing and monitoring police measures, conducting training, and coordinating day-to-day safety operations to ensure a secure environment for students, staff, and visitors.
 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Provide additional support at elementary campuses routinely.
  • Fill in at campuses in need of officer support, when officers are unavailable.
  • Implement and oversee day-to-day police operations within the school district.
  • Monitor and enforce security protocols, including access control, surveillance, and alarm systems.
  • Supervise security personnel and other security staff.
  • Provide training as needed.
  • Develop and conduct regular training sessions for staff and students on safety and security procedures.
  • Ensure that all personnel are well-trained and aware of emergency response protocols.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of emergency response plans.
  • Conduct drills and simulations to ensure staff and students are familiar with emergency procedures.
  • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and other staff to address safety concerns and implement security measures.
  • Liaise with local law enforcement and emergency services as needed.
  • Respond to police incidents promptly and efficiently.
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency services as required.
  • Implement and enforce safety and police policies in compliance with district and lawful regulatory guidelines.
  • Stay informed about changes in relevant laws and ensure policy compliance.
  • Communicate regularly with school staff, students, and parents regarding safety and security updates.
  • Assist in the development of communication plans for disseminating safety information.
  • Assist in conducting regular risk assessments of school facilities and grounds.
  • Implement measures to address identified vulnerabilities.
  • Monitor and maintain security technology, including surveillance cameras and access control systems.
  • Report any issues promptly and coordinate repairs or upgrades.
  • Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in the public information area.
  • Provides research and support in a variety of educational areas.
  • Compile budgets and cost estimates based on documented program needs.
  • Develop training options and/or improvement plans to ensure exemplary operation of the public information function.
  • Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintains prompt and regular attendance and demonstrates the ability to maintain positive professional working relationships with others.
  • Evaluates and supervises departmental staff.
  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Serve on committees as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Must have the ability to lift at least 40 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to endure prolonged standing, walking, sitting, occasional reaching above the head or the shoulders, bending, squatting, and kneeling.
