DescriptionUniversity Mechanical and Engineering Contractors, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced Plumbing Estimator for our San Diego, CA location. Plumbing estimator is responsible for all phases of the estimating and bidding process including preconstruction services and performing estimate takeoffs. Thorough knowledge of the mechanical construction bidding processes is required. Specific expertise with Plumbing systems serving hotels, student housing, laboratories, power plants, Cogeneration facilities, manufacturing facilities, clean rooms, cGMP facilities and process systems for Pharmaceutical and microelectronics facilities is desired. Ability to produce a complete detailed estimate from incomplete design documents is preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Bid document review, pre-bid meetings, client interface, quantity takeoff, material, equipment and subcontractor pricing, spreadsheet input and proposal preparation. Estimates will be prepared using Quote Express estimating software. Experience with Quote Express or other on-screen estimating software is desired. Duties also include on site and/or In-house estimating where candidate will work with professionals in design firms on design-assist and design-build projects to direct the design to meet the budget. Estimator will also interface with UMEC's construction project teams and CAD detailing staff. Must have knowledge regarding safety, worker's compensation, insurance and bonding, materials as it pertains to bidding requirements. Other duties may be assigned.

COMPUTER SKILLS
Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, Bluebeam, Internet, Lotus Notes, and QuoteExpress windows-based piping and sheet metal estimating systems.
