Responsibilities*

Manages competitive bid process for major contracts, negotiates contracts including legal terms, approves invoices and works to solve invoicing issues when appropriate, acts as a liaison between University departments and vendors, identifies potential cost savings opportunities and identifies potential new vendors.  Intermediate Procurement Agents will possess the ability compare and evaluate various courses of action and have the authority to make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of their job responsibilities. Primary activities and decision-making authority are predominantly performed independently affecting business operations to a substantial degree.  

Required Qualifications*

BA/BS Degree and 2 to 3 years professional experience in a procurement agent or contract administration role or other supply chain related role.

Desired Qualifications*

2 to 3 years of healthcare procurement/contracting experience. Experience negotiating contracts including legal terms and conditions.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
