We are seeking an established engineer to help us build and automate an exciting and growing vulnerability management environment. Our security team is responsible for the vital mission of developing, enhancing, and maintaining a cutting edge SIEM, CM, and cybersecurity environment in support of classified computing for the Air and Missile Defense Sector.

As a Security & Vulnerability Engineer you will...
- Coordinate security incident response events and analyze patch and vulnerability management processes to improve efficiency.
- Work with a variety of people with differing needs and experience to remediate vulnerabilities and determine course of action to meet business requirements
- Meticulously manage, prioritize and pursue closure of all security weaknesses in a timely fashion
- Be responsible for designing, and creating new dashboards and queries for ISSO staff as well as mentoring them in their use, to meet changing needs and enhance our security posture
Qualifications
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
- Possess a BS degree (Computer Science preferred) or equivalent years' experience.
- Have 4+ years' demonstrated experience as a classified systems administrator.
- Have the ability to work independently on a wide variety of given tasks with minimal direction.
- Have or acquire an IAT Level II Certification including though not limited to Security+ CE Certification.
- Are willing to work a significant portion of the time in a closed area.
- Hold or are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately acquire Secret level clearance. You will be subject to a government secret clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information, if selected. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
You will go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...
- Have knowledge of classified computer facility operational procedures and NISPOM, DSS, RMF and/or other DOD security regimes
- Have worked extensively with Tenable security center, Nessus, ACAS, and/or Splunk
- Have experience with heterogeneous Windows and Linux environments and data center operations including infrastructure, systems monitoring, and computer clusters of 100+ computers.
- Have a demonstrated ability and interest in documenting systems and operational procedures.
- Preference for current security clearance.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development. $90,000 Annually
Maximum Rate
$220,000 Annually
