Job Description

NUCLEAR SECURITY RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSOCIATE 2, Security Studies Program (SSP) – Center for Nuclear Security Policy (CNSP), to provide research assistance and support projects for associated faculty, researchers, and fellows under the direction of the CNSP director. Will perform research, collect, organize, and analyze data; coordinate multiple research-related projects; summarize and document findings; proof-read research papers and articles; assist with fact-checking, editing, formatting, and other support for faculty, researchers and fellows working on nuclear security topics; work on issues of nuclear deterrence, nuclear proliferation and nonproliferation, decision making, nuclear history, and other areas of nuclear security; and gain research experience in political science with an interest in nuclear security before pursuing graduate education.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent; ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously; solid organizational, project management, analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, and written and verbal communication skills; meticulous attention to detail; technical proficiency with MS Office/Outlook and willingness to learn new programs and software as needed; ability to work both independently and as part of a team; high degree of motivation; excellent interpersonal skills, especially when working with visitors; and ability to deal with confidential information and/or issues using discretion. PREFERRED: Bachelor's degree in Political Science, International Relations, History, Engineering or a related field or a minimum of three years of relevant experience and a keen interest in nuclear security. This role is on a hybrid schedule with three days/week in the office. Some occasional evening and/or weekend work will be required.

There are two one-year positions, starting September 1, 2025, with the possibility of an extension for a second year.

Salary range: $25 - $28/hour based on experience and internal equity.
