Technical Associate I, Knouse Lab

Job Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research - Knouse Lab, to assist with the development of tools for high-throughput functional genomics in mouse tissues in a position that offers an exciting opportunity to work independently or semi-independently on their own research project with mentorship from a senior lab member or Kristin Knouse. Responsibilities will include participating in the design and execution of your research project; and analyzing, recording, and organizing data generated from experiments. Experiments will involve cloning, protein expression, lentivirus preparation, animal injections, tissue harvesting, flow cytometry, DNA isolation, and DNA sequencing.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in biology, biomedical engineering, or related field; a minimum of two years of relevant lab experience (which may include experience gained as an undergraduate); experience with one or more of the following technical areas--mammalian tissue culture, standard molecular biology techniques (e.g., cloning and PCR), protein isolation, western blotting, flow cytometry, and mouse handling; working knowledge of general laboratory practices and procedures; excellent problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; willingness to work with animals; ability to work both independently and as part of a team; self-motivation; comfort summarizing and reporting results to researchers; commitment to exceeding quality standards, providing exceptional services, and producing accurate and high-quality work; meticulous attention to detail; practiced documentation skills; and awareness of basic safety issues and how to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
