Job Summary

Assist with the administration of financial aid programs, providing eligible students with funds to attend college.

Job Duties

  • 90% - Assist in the administration, awarding, and coordination of aid. Coordinate Pell Grant reconciliation and reporting. Coordinate one or more of Tennessee Student Aid (TSAC) programs, and private loans. Counsel students regarding available aid, application, and regulations. Adhere to federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures. Determine student eligibility using need analysis and other documents. Evaluate documentation provided by student and parents; perform verification and conflicting data resolution. Periodically evaluate and amend policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Participate in ongoing study, training, and professional development activities to stay abreast of changing federal and state regulations to ensure compliance. Counsel students regarding the impact of withdrawal or dropped classes on their continued eligibility. Perform Return to Title IV analysis and notify students of their federal overpayments and institutional liabilities. Use professional judgment to review unusual student circumstances and supporting documents on a case-by-case basis to make exceptions to federal and state eligibility rules when appropriate. Resolve student eligibility issues such as drug convictions, loan defaults, grant overpayments, SSN discrepancies , citizenship and immigration status, tax filing status, and reported tax information. Review student grades to ensure that Satisfactory Academic Progress has been maintained. Prepare reports to federal and state agencies. Coordinate the Financial Aid Office CPoS processes assist with evening and off-campus workshops and presentations. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid or Financial Aid Coordinator. Serve as backup to Financial Aid Assistant and Financial Aid Specialist as needed. Assist the Dean of Students as backup School Certifying Official to the Department of Veterans Affairs - (Essential)
  • 10% - Other duties as assigned - (Marginal)

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. Prior financial aid experience is required. Equivalent experience in a related field will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with 2 years or more of applicable experience from a post-secondary education institution.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong interpersonal and public relations communication skills; ability to effectively communicate using written and verbal skills; ability to give group presentations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; especially Excel and Outlook. Ellucian Banner database, EDE, COD, NSLDS, and FAST experience or knowledge is a plus. Reasoning ability required in decision-making, advising and assisting students, applying relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations. Office administration, attention to detail, public relations, customer service, time management, organizational, and scheduling skills required. Must be able to exercise ethics and maintain confidentiality.

Pay Rate: $43,888 - $51,120 (Annual salary depending on eligible experience which is defined by the current compensation plan.)
