Senior M&S Data Scientist

If so, we are looking for someone like you to join our team at APL!
We are seeking a skilled and hard-working mathematical modeling and data science expert to join the Cross-Domain Battle Management group in the Air and Missile Defense Sector. In this role, you will be using your skills and knowledge of machine learning and data science, to develop modeling, simulation, and analysis tools in support of multiple programs in our portfolio.
As a Senior M&S Data Scientist, you will:
- Develop and modify modeling and simulation products for capturing the behavior of key systems of importance for missile defense and space domain awareness missions
- Develop strong analysis tools and products for supporting government and contractor stakeholders to identify and resolve key issues
- Apply modern machine learning and data science tools to our M&S and analytical capabilities, to include potential prototype algorithmic development
- Review and present key findings, issues, and opportunities at major reviews as required by sponsor and contractor stakeholders
Qualifications
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
- Have a Masters degree or higher in physics, mathematics, engineering, or equivalent
- Have experience briefing and working with program management and sponsors, including leadership
- Have 3 years' experience performing analysis of MDA, US Navy, or other DoD defensive programs or combat systems
- Have demonstrated ability as a strong contributor to analysis teams
- Have experience working with AFSIM as a user or developer
- Are able to clearly and concisely communicate complex topics to audiences with mixed expertise, both verbally and in writing
- Hold an active Top Secret level security clearance by your start date. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

- Have 5 or more years' experience conducting complex analysis for MDA or US Navy programs
- Have 2 years' experience as a technical lead or project manager
- Have a PhD in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent technical field

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development. $90,000 Annually
Maximum Rate
$330,000 Annually
