Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director of Advancement Services, the Director of Data Management and Integrity is a key data expert and project manager responsible for the development, augmentation, and oversight of strategies for the gathering, standardization, and enhancement of data from a variety of sources into the systems of the Office of Development and University Relations (DAUR).

 

The Director will oversee team members responsible for data import and integrity functions, providing guidance on new initiatives, recurring functions, and operational schedules and ensuring the quality of data captured manually, in bulk, and via integration.

 

Essential Functions        

  • Serves as an expert in relevant business content areas and data sources, including but not limited to DAUR’s MS-Dynamics based CRM, in support of the University’s fundraising and constituent engagement efforts.
  • Ensures data quality assurance by supervising and/or conducting data validation, diagnostics, cleansing exercises, and audits to verify data accuracy; identifies and diagnoses inconsistencies and/or general quality issues in DAUR’s system of record and related systems.
  • Streamlines and ensures the quality of retrieval, compilation, cleaning, organization, and maintenance of data extracted from campus ERP systems and other sources.
  • Creates, enhances, and maintains schedules for key data retrieval and import activities and routine data integrity checks. Refines and manages protocols to systematize data transformation and intake, identifies problems with datasets and routine import and maintenance processes, and monitors and rectifies exceptions.
  • Collaborates with Fordham IT and other University business partners as necessary to support the flow of data into DAUR systems via extracts or integrations.
  • Incorporates and supports best practices for data security in the unit’s operations.
  • Partners with DAUR unit heads, the Executive Director, and the Director of Advancement Services to assess data collection and hygiene strategies and recommend changes to and/or develop new strategies to support DAUR’s ongoing work.

Management Responsibilities  

Supervises the work of other Fordham employees who are individual contributors. Responsible for hiring, training and developing, managing performance and administering corrective action. Has significant input in compensation decisions.

 

Additional Functions      

  • Partners with the Executive Director or others on strategic initiatives and special projects.
  • Develops and sustains effective cross-team and cross-departmental relationships to better understand data and reporting needs, identify synergies, and enhance data collection tools and efforts.
  • Creates and maintains documentation and trains Advancement Services and DAUR team members in systems use and best practices.

 

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience        

  • Bachelor’s degree in an analytical field (i.e., Computer Science, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Data Science, etc.).
  • Minimum of six years of experience in a higher education or nonprofit environment;
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience.

 

Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills     

  • Demonstrable experience in one or more development-oriented CRM systems (e.g., Ellucian CRM Advance, Banner Advancement, Raiser’s Edge, etc.), relational databases, and Microsoft Office tools including Access and Excel.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and implementing process improvements.
  • Proven management experience, working effectively to develop, promote, and grow teams as individuals and an overall unit.
  • Customer service and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of best practices in data and development operations.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize work effectively, meet firm deadlines, and to handle the pressure of a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated competence in performing data analysis tasks.
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion.
  • Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree in an analytical field.
  • Demonstrable experience in project management.
  • Experience working in Advancement Services.
  • Extensive experience in/with Ellucian CRM Advance or MS Dynamics, Banner Advancement, and/or data warehouses.
  • Advanced Excel proficiencies (VLOOKUP, macros, pivot tables, conditional statements, etc.)
  • Experience in basic to moderately complex SQL query writing.
  • Experience in the use of API platforms such as Postman.

 

Minimum Starting Salary: $122,000

 

Maximum Starting Salary: $127,000

 

Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
