Job Summary
The Human Resources Specialist IV supports the mission and goals of WNCC by providing professional, caring, and trustworthy services, and by striving to provide a healthy and equitable workplace for all employees. The HR Specialist IV oversees multiple HR functions and provides collaborative support for the department, representing the department as requested, to both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Effectively and efficiently manage the institution's human resources data, ensuring data accuracy and reliability, and providing analysis and insights to drive key HR processes and initiatives.
- Manage input and changes of payroll data. Work collaboratively with the payroll processor to ensure accurate and timely payroll completion.
- Manage the worker's compensation program.
- Serve as the HR department's expert for the HRIS, records management, and other HR systems. Collaborate with the IT department and vendors to assess and solve problems and to support continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with Institutional Effectiveness & Planning in the analysis of data, creation of reports, compliance reporting, and the design of research related to human resource issues.
- Receive and respond to requests for information including, but not limited to, salary surveys, employment verifications, and HR data requests.
- Serve as an institutional resource on matters related to HRIS and provide expertise to assist users in accessing and utilizing data available in the system.
- Manage employee data including personnel files. Scan and maintain electronic records according to appropriate retention schedules, regulations, and best practices.
- As requested, collect, organize, and analyze various HR-related data to inform team decision making and initiatives. Assist with the budget process.
- Effectively compile and present data using dashboards, reports, and other engaging methods.
- Cross-train in various HR areas to provide continuity of service.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred, but a significant combination of education and experience will be considered. Human Resources certification and experience in higher education preferred. Significant experience with Excel and other data management software preferred.
Possession of, or the ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record that does not exclude the driver from coverage under WNCC’s vehicle insurance is required.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Alternate Sitting or Standing at Will - The ability to alternate between sitting and standing is present when a worker has the flexibility to choose between sitting or standing as needed when this need cannot be accommodated by scheduled breaks and/or lunch period.
Reaching At or Below Shoulder Level - Reaching at or below the shoulder is present when there is ‘Reaching,’ but it does not meet the threshold for ‘Overhead.’ ‘Overhead’ and ‘At or Below the Shoulder Reaching’ can be present in the same task.
Keyboarding - Entering text or data into a computer or other machine by means of a traditional keyboard. Traditional Keyboard refers to a panel of keys used as the primary input device on a computer, typographic machine or 10-Key numeric keypad.
Stooping - Stooping is bending the body forward and down while bending the spine at the waist 45 degrees or more either over something below waist level or down towards an object on or near the ground.
Crouching - Bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine.
