Human Resources Coordinator
Job Description
HUMAN RESOURCES COORDINATOR, Mechanical Engineering, to provide human resources (HR) service and support; advise faculty and staff on HR policies, procedures, and best practices; collaborate on development of HR activities, policies, strategies, and annual development goals; manage postdoctoral, visitor, and affiliate appointments, including onboarding, orientation, securing visa, obtaining annual reviews, processing HR transactions, off-boarding; participate in the development and implementation of programs and processes that promote a diverse and inclusive workforce; work with faculty and staff to ensure the timely processing of appointment extensions; maintain and communicating updates to postdoctoral scholar, visiting, and affiliate appointment policy and procedure; monitor and conducting periodic equity reviews for postdoctoral scholars and ensure compliance with funding requirements; create HR reports and audit data to ensure compliance; ensure HR activities, records, forms, and procedures are compliant and follow best-practice; and assist with annual reporting processes.
Job Requirements:REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree and two years of HR experience; general knowledge of the HR function, including employment law, recruitment, employee relations, compensation, onboarding, and off-boarding; awareness of legal obligation, HR policy and best practice, applying both consistently; support for MIT’s commitment to diversity and serving diverse constituents; excellent organizational, analytical, active listening, problem-solving, interpersonal and communication skills; initiative; flexibility; attention to detail; ability to work effectively with others at all levels, prioritize, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and work independently and as part of a team; demonstrated discretion with confidential information; ability to learn new processes and systems; and proficiency with MS Office, SAP, Cognos, and Peoplefluent (or similar ATS software).
