Description Summary
The Athletic Director at Iowa Central Community College leads and oversees the college’s athletic programs, ensuring that they align with institutional goals, comply with conference and NJCAA regulations, non-NJCAA athletic team regulations, and promote student success on and off the field. The Athletic Director supervises all aspects of the athletic department, including budgeting, compliance, facilities management, and coaching staff development. This role is integral to fostering a vibrant and inclusive sports culture that enhances the college experience for student-athletes and supports their academic and personal growth.

Constant (67-100%)
- Provides strong leadership to the coaching staff, upholding the highest standards of ethical sportsmanship and professional conduct.
- Oversees all authorized athletic teams, providing administrative guidance and ensuring alignment with institutional goals and standards.
- Develops, coordinates, communicates, and maintains a comprehensive master schedule for all athletic competitions.
- Authorizes all athletic department purchase orders, check requests, and contracts, ensuring compliance with institutional policies.
- Hires, supervises, and evaluates coaches, fostering a supportive environment for staff development and accountability.
- Coordinates with the ICCAC on hiring game officials, ensuring coverage and compliance with conference regulations.
- Oversees all athletic eligibility records, maintaining compliance with institutional, regional, and national regulations.
- Acts as the college’s institutional representative to the NJCAA, Region XI, and ICCAC, managing communications with national, state, and national athletic organizations as necessary.
- Coordinates and approves athletic scholarships, aligning support with student-athlete recruitment and retention goals.
- Manages the purchase, maintenance, and inventory of equipment and facilities for all athletic programs, ensuring safety and functionality.
- Leads game management efforts for all home athletic events, ensuring smooth operations and a positive experience for athletes, staff, and attendees.
- Coordinates the athletic drug-testing program in collaboration with the Head Athletic Trainer, supporting a safe and fair environment for athletes.
- Other duties as assigned.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
1. Be able and willing to represent Iowa Central Community College in a positive manner with prospective, former, and current students, clients, suppliers, and the community we serve.
2. Must be experienced at fundraising.
3. Ability to prepare and manage multiple budgets is essential.
4. Must be able to handle public relations internally and externally.
5. Required to assist in recruiting, hiring, and evaluating coaches and officials, fundraising, scheduling athletic events, and scheduling of facilities.
Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Physical Education, Athletic Management/Administration, Recreation, or equivalent required; proven fundraiser required; minimum of five years of athletic administration and/or coaching instruction in Physical Education or Student Personnel experience at the college level preferred. Facilities management experience preferred.

GENERAL PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH OR WITHOUT A REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:
Position involves constant (67-100%) sitting in an office setting as well as talking on the telephone and in person, listening, attending meetings, viewing computer screen and other types of close visual work; frequent (34-66%) walking, reaching, pushing, pulling and grasping and occasional (10-33%) stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, lifting (up to 20 pounds), and repetitive motion.
