The Student Activities Coordinator reports to the Director of Student Life and will be primarily responsible for implementing student activities on the north campus of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. The Student Activities Coordinator will provide guidance to the Student Government Association and will collaborate with faculty/staff club advisors and students of chartered clubs/organizations. This position may be asked to accompany students traveling to community events and leadership conferences. Must be able to work an unconventional schedule (including evenings and weekends) to support planned programming.
Required Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in counseling, recruiting, or related field, and two (2) years of related human resources and/or human services experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:
- Master’s degree in college student affairs, higher education or guidance, and counseling or related area highly preferred.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of: Applicable academic programs, academic advising, and/or related programs; Customer service principles; Diverse populations and cultures; Record-keeping; Public speaking skills; Basic budgeting principles; Program coordination principles; Computers and related software applications.
Skill in: Coordinating recruiting events; Coordinating student programming; Providing program support; Maintaining confidentiality; Preparing and maintaining records; Giving presentations and tours; Using a computer and related software applications; Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
