Nurse Practitioner

Job Description

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary health team, responsible for providing comprehensive gynecologic care for ambulatory patients.  Will practice within the guidelines of the department and the institution in accordance with the State of Maryland. The Nurse Practitioner is granted affiliate staff privileges by the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, Johns Hopkins Women’s Center at White Marsh, and Johns Hopkins Women’s Center at Greenspring Station. These privileges are renewed annually.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Care for gynecologic patients seeking well-woman care, problem-focused gynecologic care (including abnormal bleeding, vaginal discharge, pelvic pain, contraception, menopause, UTIs, vaginitis, STDs etc.)
  • Provide urgent and non-urgent care to antepartum and postpartum patients. Order appropriate labs, ultrasounds and consults as needed.
  • Provide emergency/urgent care to obstetrical patients throughout pregnancy and postpartum. Assess, evaluate, and implement treatment
  • Initiation of contraception for postpartum patients (IUD-insertion and removals, OCP, Depo-Provera, etc.)
  • Evaluation and management of gyn problems: DUB, EMB, vulva biopsy, well-women care.
  • Order appropriate labs, ultrasounds and consults as needed and provide appropriate follow up and treatment.


Physical Requirements

  • Sitting, standing and walking for extended period. Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.
  • Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s).
  • Ability to move standard equipment through a hospital or clinical environment.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • Registered Nurse license and certified as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Must be licensed as NP in State of Maryland or other state where practicing.
  • Additional experience may substitute for master's degree, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in performing endometrial and vulva biopsies.

Starting Salary Range: $100,000 - $151,400 ($77,220 targeted; Commensurate with experience) 
Employee group: Part-time 
Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am - 5:00pm
