Essential Job Duties
- Provide primary technician support for the Dentistry and Oral Surgery Services.
- Assist veterinarians and students with examinations, procedures, stabilization, diagnostics, treatments, animal handling, restraint and anesthesia.
- Perform administrative roles for services; maintaining the service schedule, triaging referrals for scheduling, inventory management, accurate billing, supply management / purchasing, monitoring treatment sheets for accuracy, and ensuring good communication and collaboration with all ancillary services and other areas of the hospital.
- Act as a liaison to all other areas of the hospital, including communication and Coordinating surgeries with the Anesthesia service, treatment technicians and support services.
- Maintain supplies and equipment, including repair schedules. Set up and break down for procedures and teaching labs.
- Ensure compliance with all Infectious Disease protocols.
- Assist with the teaching, orientation of students, and House Officers of all aforementioned duties.
- Ensure resources are available and organized for laboratory sessions.
- Provide accurate responses to email and phone inquiries in an efficient, timely manner.

- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively at all times and maintain professionalism in emotionally charged / challenging situations.
- Ability to provide high-quality customer service.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work beyond scheduled work hours when needed.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and be an active participant in problem-solving and team advancement.
- Ability to work effectively with computers and electronics.
- Ability to work independently and practice good judgment to ensure high-quality care for all patients and request assistance when needed.
- Desire to teach 4th year veterinary students.
Preferred Qualifications
- Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of NC VTS in Dentistry or eligible.
- Experience as a veterinary technician in a clinical setting; preferably at a teaching hospital.
- Experience as a veterinary technician, performing and assisting with dental procedures; cleanings, etc.
Required License or Certification
Valid NC Driver's License required
