As a Senior Voice Engineer
- Your primary responsibility will be to provide technical expertise and engineering support for the design, deployment, and operational management of enterprise telephony systems.
- You will manage and maintain Cisco IP-based telephony architecture including UCCX servers, gateways, Unity VM, CUBEs, and related services like Jabber.
- You will configure, monitor, and manage call routing, SIP trunking, and trunk management to ensure optimal voice communications across the enterprise.
- You will collaborate with network, infrastructure, and operations teams to ensure seamless voice and data network integration.
- You will monitor the performance of telephony systems and implement improvements for security, scalability, and reliability.
Qualifications
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Have 7+ years experience with the design, deployment, and operational management of enterprise telephony systems.
- Have in-depth understanding of Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Unity Connection, UCCX, Jabber, CUBEs, and related systems.
- Are proficient in call routing, trunking, and SIP trunk management.
- Have experience conducting technical evaluations and feasibility studies on VoIP and network technologies to recommend and implement enterprise-level solutions.
- Have expertise in cloud telephony solutions and experience managing the migration of on-premise systems to cloud-based platforms.
- Are skilled in designing, testing, and deploying call center technologies to meet business requirements and enhance operational efficiency.
- Possess solid understanding of OSI layers 1, 2, and 3, with a focus on layer 2 and 3 network protocols.
- Are able to obtain a Secret security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

- Have experience with collaboration tools like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Cisco WebEx, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with AI-powered tools for collaboration, such as voice transcription, virtual assistants, or speech analytics.
- Have in-depth knowledge of E911 regulations, including compliance with Ray Baum's Act and Kari's Law.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development. $90,000 Annually
Maximum Rate
$330,000 Annually
