The Program in Computing for the Arts and Sciences is seeking to hire up to one (1) GSI in the winter 2025 term to lead concurrent project/studio-work and grade assignments for COMPFOR 121.

Course Description

COMPFOR 121 - Computing for Expression:

?Computing provides new ways for humans to express themselves, interact, and communicate.  Students in this course study the ways in which computing has been used to create and express, and then learn how to use computation to create pictures, sounds, videogames, language, and web pages.  They will learn how to generate and control these modalities through user interactivity in order to blend these in video games and web pages. Students will learn computational concepts and write programs with a focus on purpose and meaning.?

Responsibilities*

This position will provide support for two sections of COMPFOR 121. Each section of the courses is composed of two weekly 90-minute sessions that include a short lecture and concurrent project/studio work. The GSI is required to attend the entire lecture/studio session of one of the sections, and the studio portion of the second section. The GSI should expect to attend up to 30 minutes of lecture and up to 5 hours of studio sessions per week, in coordination with the instructor(s) of record. All GSIs are required to attend the lecture and studio sessions times as agreed upon with the instructor(s). Note that both lecture and studio-sessions are scheduled as in-person instruction.
