Job Description
POLICY RESEARCHER, Jameel Clinic for Machine Learning in Health, to contribute to the Clinic’s mission of driving the adoption of high-precision, affordable, and scalable machine learning technologies. Will play a crucial role in shaping the Jameel Clinic’s policy initiative for Wellcome Trust; conduct data analysis and policy research, focusing on cost-effectiveness models for AI-driven cancer risk prediction in collaboration with leadership; be responsible for communications and publications to convey research findings to various stakeholders, management, and strategy development with hospitals; work closely with Prof. Regina Barzilay’s lab to develop cost-effectiveness models for the implementation of AI-driven cancer risk prediction models; and read academic papers on cancer risk prediction and detection, iterating with researchers to refine key assumptions, and developing estimates of program cost-effectiveness to inform policymaker decisions.
Job Requirements:REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree with significant background and training in policy; at least four years of relevant work experience; ability to read and interpret economics research papers and write succinctly for policymakers; comfort using and learning various computer applications, including Google Suite, and Salesforce; fluency in the English language; advanced writing and collaboration skills; sensitivity, adaptability, and inclusivity in engagement with people from diverse backgrounds; strategic thinking; ability to manage multiple projects at once, meet deadlines, and effectively manage your time; and ability to communicate policy lessons from technical academic research in ways that policymakers and practitioners understand. PREFERRED: Master’s degree; demonstrated academic interest in international development or international experience; and knowledge of foreign languages relevant to our hospital network regions.
