The new technologies, techniques and treatments we develop at UC San Diego Health are setting new standards in vascular and cardiac care - for our patients, and for the world.
The Registered Nurse provides direct care to critical care patients using the nursing process in the clinic setting. Develops and provides treatment plans as requested. Promotes self-care through education. Organizes and maintains clinic equipment and supplies. This unit provides care to a vast array of cardiology patients. Including but not limited to; Coronary Angioplasty, Pacemaker, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft, Vascular Revascularization and Balloon Pulmonary Artery Angioplasy.
These units utilize advanced training and skills to take care of high acuity, complex patients. 24 hour physician coverage on this unit. Nurse to patient ratio is 1:3 or 1:4.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMust be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
RN license issued by the State of California.
BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.
Two years of recent acute care RN experience in Cardiac Progressive Care. Resume to demonstrate care with General Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Cardiac Interventional, and Cardiac Electrophysiology.
Demonstrates critical nursing thinking and clinical skills in cardiac population to identify and implement nursing interventions and evaluate results.
Must have proven interpersonal communication skills, decision making, problem solving and prioritizing skills.
Ability to demonstrate individualized care to vulnerable populations.
Ability to critically handles unexpected challenges in a progressive care setting and creates plausible solutions in a team-centered environment.
Must have excellent skills to communicate and influence effectively with all levels of staff, physicians, patients and external constituents, both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrates participation in shared governance committees or equivalent.
- BSN.
- IMU experience.
- PCCN, CSC, and CMC certifications.
- Experience with cardiopulmonary and cardiac care.
- Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $170,485 - $170,485 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $81.65 - $81.65
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
