DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of Clinical Dietitian, the Diet Tech is responsible for basic nutrition care and education of hospital patients. The Diet Tech collects necessary nutrition screening information and assists in identifying patients at nutrition risk. Check all modified menus for accuracy using approved Diet Manual.

This position also works in the sensitive area of NICU preparing breastmilk and formula for infants. The DTR is also an active participant in nutritional care of adult patients. The DTR works closely with the Dietitian in screening, educating and carrying out nutritional interventions, documenting all encounter in the electronic medical record.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • One (1) year of relevant nutrition experience, preferably in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other comparable healthcare environments.
  • Must possess knowledge of safe food preparation and handling techniques.
  • Proven knowledge of nutritional food values, meal planning and therapeutic menu processes.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Must have excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Proven sound critical thinking as often works independently with minimal direct supervision.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate's Degree in Dietetic/Foods or Nutrition.
  • Diet Technician Registered (DTR).
  • One (1) year of clinical nutrition experience.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Will be provided hospital scrub attire for the work area.
  • Appropriate attire for compliance with infection control recommendations will be required.
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $60,990 - $60,990 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $29.21 - $29.21

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
