Essential Job Duties
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Manage the transgenic mouse colony, including breeding, weaning, sacrificing, and maintaining accurate records of pedigrees and colony health.
- Perform genotyping assays to determine mouse genotypes for various research project.
- Conduct tail sampling and ear tagging procedures in accordance with established protocols.
- Ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory guidelines regarding the care and use of research animals.
- Collaborate with graduate students and research staff to support ongoing experiments and projects.
- Assist in maintaining laboratory cleanliness and organization.
- Maintain inventory of research supplies and implement the Lab Safety Plan and proper disposal of lab waste (both hazardous and non-hazardous as well as radioactive) by following EHS hazardous waste and radioactive waste protocols.
- Maintain records of research projects, including all research protocols and data.
- Assist in maintaining laboratory cleanliness and organization.
- Organize and tabulate data; ensure quality control of data collection.
This is a time-limited position with an expected duration of up to 3 years, depending on funding availability.

Other Required Qualifications
- Experience with standard laboratory procedures in molecular biology is required
- Proficiency in genotyping techniques and other molecular biology methods is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Good communication skills and a willingness to learn new techniques and protocols
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working with research animals, preferably mice, in a laboratory setting.
Required License or Certification
Valid NC Driver's License required
