Job Description
ASSISTANT TO THE HEAD, Music and Theater Arts Section (MTA), to provide complex and diverse administrative support to the section head and general support for regular and special projects and events, receive and respond to MTA faculty and teaching staff requests for administrative support, act as the primary point of contact and support for the section headquarters, and perform other duties as assigned by the section head or director of administration and finance. Will work with minimal supervision and complete projects by setting and organizing priorities according to deadlines; proactively interpret and resolve various situations and problems; greet visitors and respond to inquiries; and create a welcoming and well-organized office environment.

Job Requirements:
REQUIRED: high school diploma or equivalent; at least three years of administrative, office, or related experience; excellent organizational, interpersonal, project management, customer service, and verbal and written communication skills; meticulous attention to detail; initiative; discretion with confidential information; experience managing complex calendars, travel arrangements, and logistics for meetings and events; and advanced-level technical and computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and shared document environments (e.g., SharePoint, Dropbox, and Google docs); ability to make independent decisions with limited supervision and multitask in a fast-paced work environment with changing priorities and demanding time frames; and effectively communicate with all levels of faculty, staff, and students. PREFERRED: bachelor’s degree; administrative experience at a higher education institution, preferably MIT; and experience working for senior leaders. Job #24509-5
Hourly range (Grade 5): $23.10 - 31.59, starting pay commensurate with experience.
35 hours/week, occasional weekday evening and weekend work.
