Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
With minimum supervision, administer and manage the budget, financial operations, grants and awards, development and foundation accounts, payroll and other business activities for the Department of Communication, including the Universities of Shady Grove program and professional studies programs.
This includes but is not limited to reporting, budget analysis, development oversight, contract preparation, strategic planning, auditing and reconciliation.
Manage operating accounts and revenue generating accounts, contract and grants, foundation and gift accounts.
Oversee payroll, procurement, awards, fellowships, disbursements, purchasing, reimbursements, cash handling, A/P and A/R, inventory, foreign visas, software management and customer service.
Responsible for conference planning and travel requests using the University of Maryland P-card and T-card systems, which includes overseeing the reconciliation of the cards on a monthly basis. Work with databases like Kuali.
Supervise Business Coordinator and student workers.
Work closely with other Units such as Human Resources, Payroll, Dean’s Office, Universities of Shady Grove, and Extended Studies Programs.
This is an in-person position. Telework may be available up to two (2) days per week, subject to approval.

Bachelor’s degree required with a concentration in Business Management, Accounting, Finance, or a related area of concentration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:
- 3 years experience in budget, accounting, payroll, purchasing, and personnel.
- 1 year supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Knowledge of Windows, Excel, and web-based applications.
- Demonstrated ability to implement and use technological tools.
Preferences:

- Master’s degree in related field preferred.
- Extensive travel and conference planning desired.
- Experience in higher education.
- Experience with sponsored research accounting and administration
- Knowledge of University of Maryland financial, personnel, budgeting, and reporting systems.
Additional Information:
- Salary range: $80,000-$100,000.
- Candidates must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the USA. No visa sponsorship is offered for this position.
