Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Office of Research Administration (ORA) Award Administrator is part of a team responsible for reviewing, establishing, and maintaining all sponsored program awards using Kuali Research (KR), the University of Maryland College Park (UMD) enterprise grants management system and the UMD financial system of record, soon to be Workday. The ORA Award Administrator will assume primary responsibility for evaluating sponsor requirements related to authorized total and indirect costs and determining appropriate account setup. This position will be responsible for recording the period of performance, cost sharing requirements, applicability of expanded authorities, contract requirements, invoicing, billing, and reporting requirements, both technical and fiscal. This position will be responsible for ensuring appropriate compliance approvals are in place prior to award activation. This position will also be a resource to ORA Contract Administrators and Managers on appropriate award setup and will interact regularly with other offices within the Division of Research and UMD Colleges to ensure accurate budgeting and reporting of sponsored awards.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

Experience:
  • A minimum of three years experience involving the field of sponsored projects administration, higher education environment, or business or related field.

Knowledge Skills, and Abilities:
  • Familiarity with and understanding of research administration, finance, law, and/or information technology.
  • Ability to use multiple software applications.
  • Ability to to use analytical and creative problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet expected deadlines and schedules.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (e.g. Word, Excel).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to be extremely organized with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness.
  • Demonstrated team player.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Knowledge of OMB 2 CFR Part 200 Uniform Guidance and knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
  • Knowledge of sub-award principles and procedures.
  • Knowledge or experience in university environment.

Target Salary Range $63,091 – $78,531.
