FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATOR
Job Description
FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATOR, Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART), to assist with the financial budgeting, monitoring, and reporting for large-scale research projects. Will coordinate, review, and approve complex travel reimbursements; monitor and prepare financial performance reports and ensure compliance with MIT policies and contractual obligations with sponsors; prepare financial analysis and budget forecasts for principal investigators; assist with the preparation of annual budgets, financial closing, and semi-annual progress and monthly expenditure reports; assist with the review, control, and monitoring of the use of funds for the research projects; prepare and process request for payments and journal vouchers; oversee high-risk transactions, unassigned travel, and swept credit card charges; provide administrative support to faculty and their research staff, including procurement, proposal preparation, and personnel management; assist with the creation and implementation of a financial reporting system; serve as a liaison to central MIT offices and Singapore-based staff; and perform related duties as requested.
Job Requirements:REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in a related field; at least two years of related experience in financial administration; knowledge of SAP; proficiency with Excel and Word; ability to analyze financial data and provide a clear and concise written summary; initiative; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously despite frequent interruptions and with changing deadlines and priorities; willingness to learn new systems and software and keep up-to-date with sponsor and MIT accounting policies; ability to implement or improve established financial processes; ability to maintain confidentiality; meticulous attention to detail; service-oriented approach to work in a global team-oriented environment; and ability to work collaboratively. PREFERRED: skill with relational databases, e.g. BrioQuery or Cognos; and accounting or finance experience in an academic or research environment, preferably MIT. Job #24482-7
