Summary of Position

The Director of Marketing & Communication, UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law will be at the center of telling UNH Law’s story to the world, with a focus on reaching and influencing key constituencies, including prospective students, alumni, and members of the legal community and other professional sectors. The Director should be a high-octane, independent thinker and doer who flourishes in a mission-driven and entrepreneurial environment. They should have meaningful experience with digital, email, and print communication in a fast-paced setting combined with the aptitude for rapidly generating content for a range of audiences across a range of media platforms. They should also have strong experience with developing and implementing a comprehensive marketing strategy.

The Director of Marketing & Communication, UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law will work in a team-based, fast-paced educational environment, reporting to the Dean. This new candidate will play a central role in creating and sharing the story of a powerhouse in legal education during a phase of rapid innovation. Prior experience in an educational setting is not required; the successful candidate could come from a prior home in the tech or broader business sector, politics, or any other dynamic setting.

● BA/BS in relevant field, plus substantial experience in marketing, communications, branding, event planning, journalism, or a related industry.
● Strong digital media skills.
● Brand design, enhancement, maintenance.
● Strong interpersonal skills with willingness to be held accountable for deliverables, including deliverables prepared with outside contractor contributions.
● Excellent writing skills.
● Excellent attention to detail and strong editing skills.
● Demonstrated ability to multitask in a highly dynamic environment.
● Must be detail-oriented, possess strong organizational skills with the capacity to coordinate off-site events and work with external stakeholders.
● A proven self-starter able to work both independently and as part of teams.
● Ability to think creatively and “outside the box.”
● Proficient in Google products, InDesign, social media platforms, audio/video.
● Ability to travel when necessary.
● Eagerness to learn new content, take risks, and face challenges with a sense of humor and problem-solving attitude.

Duty/Responsibility

● Be a leader in developing UNH Law’s brand visibility as a powerhouse in legal education, especially in IP law.
● Create and implement comprehensive digital, social media, and print strategies to recruit students, engage alumni, and share UNH Law’s successes with other key external stakeholders.
● Liaise effectively with external media outlets and build relationships with key publications and platforms.
● Produce, maintain and update content on UNH Law’s website, social media platforms, and other digital outlets.
● Oversee the development, production, and dissemination of hard-copy marketing materials.
● Create communication streams with appropriate content/media for different stakeholder groups, and manage end-to-end planning and delivery, working with both UNH Law teams and the Communications & Public Affairs team at the University of New Hampshire.

Duty/Responsibility

● Work closely with admissions, alumni, student affairs, and other departments to integrate messaging across all platforms and marketing collateral.
● Provide regular reports to the UNH Law leadership team, and UNH as requested by the Dean, on key messaging metrics.
