DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, the Pharmacy Technician performs a full range of duties, including sterile compounding according to established procedures and guidelines, medication distribution via the Pyxis Med Station, and medication inventory management and purchasing. The Pharmacy Technician also assists the pharmacist in preparing medications for patient use, both oral and parenteral, in accordance with protocols, and helps distribute medications. Additional responsibilities include performing computer order entry, maintaining records, processing billing functions, and ensuring inventory levels are sufficient. The Pharmacy Technician also supports nursing and other staff with operational duties in designated areas.

This position will support Via Tazon Infusion Services with occasional coverage of Vista Infusion and Encinitas Infusion Pharmacy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) issued by PTCB.

  • Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.

  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience is required. Experience in project management/system responsibility (e.g. Pyxis, narcotic control, QI, or pharmacybuyer/biller/analyst).

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Pharmacy terminology and calculations.

  • Proficient computer experience and accurate data entry skills.

  • Strong detail and organizational skills to sort, file, and retrieve information.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and be able to articulate complex ideas for all levels of audiences.

  • Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment, and accountability.

  • Ability to work in a self-directed work team environment and function effectively in a high-volume, multiple-demand environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Two (2+) or more years of previous IV and Chemo experience.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $64,519 - $80,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $30.90 - $38.41

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
