Primary Purpose:

Provides critical support to the assigned business unit, including: (1) Produce monthly financial statements including Profit and Loss statement and Journal Entries based on a revenue recognition strategy, (2) Function as internal consultant to Director and Managers in support of the business unit particularly in a contractual compliance capacity, (3) Ongoing business analytics and monitoring of key performance measures.



Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares department financial statements and forecasts including monthly and annual P&L statements, GRC forecasts, journal entries and calculations. Provides analysis and plans to address key performance measures and goals. Performs ongoing analytics and monitoring of key performance measures. Develops financial modeling associated with departmental operations. Performs special cost and operational requirement studies. Collaborates in preparation of departmental operating budget. Optimizes use of the new analytics tools in identifying and initiating process improvements.
  • Responsible for company's compliance with federal reporting requirements including SAMS.gov. and other and other federal reporting systems as required by regulation including lead internal compliance requirements such as SOX reporting requirements.
  • Coordinates internal and external audit compliance, management of department activities, and management of department records. Leads record retention efforts for all federal government contracts, financial, and business records. Understand primary operational processes and key drivers and make recommendations for corrective actions if necessary. Function as internal consultant to the Director and Managers in support of the business unit.
  • Collection management for internal and third-party lenders.
  • Creates loan amortization schedules and be the primary point of contact between SDG&E and institutional lenders that finance federal Utility Energy Service Contract projects.
  • Prepares and processes Sundry Billing invoices, incoming wire-transfers, set-up project work orders.
  • Prepares loan documentation for institutional lenders. Maintains compliance with loan agreements. Processes contract close-out documents.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Hybrid Schedule:

  • Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow the employee to work onsite three days per week and remotely on the remaining workdays.
  • Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent training and/or experience.
  • 5 years related experience.
  • Candidate requires strong conceptual and analytical skills, with the ability to plan, develop alternatives and implement solutions.
  • Ability to organize and interpret large amounts of data.
  • Demonstrates motivation and initiative. Must be results-oriented.
  • Ability to work under deadlines and contracting schedules and effectively prioritize competing tasks simultaneously.
  • Possess strong knowledge of Excel and other PC software skills, e.g., MS Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Proficiency in GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Working knowledge of US Treasury financial markets, loan documents and financial instruments
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills, with the ability to plan, develop alternatives and implement solutions.
  • Effective in working with external and internal organizations.
  • Knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) for Federal Government contracts.
  • May be required to obtained Government Contracting Certificate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with financial systems (SAP and Business Warehouse).
  • Strong client focus and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of overall Company operations.
  • Working knowledge of departmental operations and related processes.
