Introduction

ASML US, including its affiliates and subsidiaries, bring together the most creative minds in science and technology to develop lithography machines that are key to producing faster, cheaper, more energy-efficient microchips. We design, develop, integrate, market and service these advanced machines, which enable our customers - the world's leading chipmakers - to reduce the size and increase the functionality of their microchips, which in turn leads to smaller, more powerful consumer electronics. Our headquarters are in Veldhoven, Netherlands, and we have 18 office locations around the United States including main offices in Chandler, Arizona, San Jose and San Diego, California, Wilton, Connecticut, and Hillsboro, Oregon.

This internship will be on-site at the San Diego campus for 12 weeks in summer 2025. Applicants must be enrolled in a program through at least fall 2025.

Job Mission

As a Data Scientist Intern at ASML, you will play a critical role in analyzing and interpreting complex data sets to drive decision-making and improve the performance of our lithography machines. You will work on projects that enhance customer satisfaction and contribute to the development of cutting-edge technology.

Job Description

  • Develop and implement data models and algorithms to analyze large data sets.
  • Use statistical methods to identify trends and patterns in data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design experiments and analyze results.
  • Create data visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Work towards the adoption of best industry practices in data analysis, testing, and maintainability.
  • Contribute to the development of automated data processing pipelines.
  • Collaborate with business users to understand their requirements and provide data-driven solutions.

Education and Experience

  • Must be pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or other related fields.
  • Knowledge or experience using statistical software and programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques and frameworks.
  • Ability to write complex queries and perform data manipulation.
  • Knowledge or experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.

Other Information

  • This position is located on-site in San Diego, CA. It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings, and meetings to further ensure teamwork, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Occasionally required to move around the campus.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be willing to work in a clean room environment, wearing coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, and gloves for the entire duration of the shift.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch.
