Job Description

This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at Greenwich Drive and remote.

DESCRIPTION

UC San Diego Health seeks a Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to support multiple projects in the payroll, timekeeping, scheduling, and other finance areas.

The BSA will work collaboratively with functional and technical project members and subject matter experts (SMEs) to define and document detailed business requirements, solutions, and integrations related to the applicable project. The BSA will support subsequent project phases including testing, training and communications support activities related to project implementations.

Activities:

  • Participate in all project phases, including requirements, fit/gap, configuration build, testing, training prep, and stabilization
  • Gather and document University of California (UC) policy, collective bargaining agreement (CBA), and procedures in preparation for requirement gathering sessions
  • Document current state and future state business processes for timekeeping, payroll, and/or scheduling areas
  • Document and maintain functional issues, gaps, risks and configuration decisions in partnership with vendor consultants
  • Superior in Microsoft Excel with ability to gather, manipulate, interpret, and analyze data to establish patterns and trends
  • Ability to synthesize data into desired applications and format and create documentation of findings that can then be used for issues resolution, knowledge management, fixes, and enhancements
  • Ability to test and validate new functionality in timekeeping to meet business process demands
  • Work with technical resources to document integration requirements and specifications related to other upstream and downstream systems
  • Generate functional specifications for custom report development
  • Ability to translate technical and/or complex issues into easy-to-understand explanations to key audiences
  • Advise stakeholders on options, risks, and cross-functional impacts on other processes or downstream systems
  • Report clear status to project management, including priorities, issues, and risks promptly
  • Support project team with administrative and reporting related tasks as requested
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus three years of related experience/training. Related experience: Data analysis experience on a system implementation project.

  • Experience and proven success in knowledge of business and process analysis functions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High aptitude for research, data collection, problem-solving, and identifying issues and trends

  • Demonstrate skill in analyzing information and procedures, understanding up and downstream impacts, defining problems and objectives, formulating logical and objective conclusions, and recognizing alternatives and their implications

  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively in a diverse and dynamic environment

  • Experience creating data analyses and reports, identifying patterns, and translating the meaning

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to think strategically and creatively

  • Experience with documenting functional requirements, design specifications, and test cases

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision

  • Solid understanding of application development lifecycle and best practices

  • Experience working in a large, complex healthcare setting

  • Working knowledge of university staff personnel policies and collective bargaining agreements related to, or having an impact upon, time and attendance functions

  • Experience with implementing or upgrading timekeeping systems

  • Experience using Promapp or other business process management software

  • Experience using Smartsheet or other work management platform

  • Knowledge of the delivered and custom PeopleSoft records to create SQL to pull the necessary data for analysis

  • Experience with various project tools i.e. Excel, JIRA, PowerPoint etc.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $77,000 - $139,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $36.88 - $66.67

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
