Supervisor, Mechanical Systems
Job Description
SUPERVISOR, MECHANICAL SYSTEMS, Facilities-Facilities Operations-Repair and Maintenance (R&M), to provide leadership, supervision, resources, and direction for an R&M mechanical team producing high-level technical services, customer service, and maintenance of all building mechanical systems. Will manage assigned campus area buildings and act as the point person for all mechanical system issues.
Job Requirements:REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; at least five years’ related experience in building operations; supervisory experience in a repair and maintenance setting; background in a repair and maintenance setting with oversight over mechanical systems; demonstrated knowledge of boilers and other mechanical equipment; ability to manage work order backlogs and make sound judgment when prioritizing daily work; demonstrated proficiency with job planning and execution; excellent customer service, organizational, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills; and experience with work order tracking systems and other computer applications. PREFERRED: bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, HVAC experience, direct/related experience in repair and maintenance and/or facilities management in an academic setting, and knowledge of labor relations and conflict resolution. Working conditions: maneuvering in and around mechanical rooms and on rooftops; exposure to unusual noise levels, tight spaces, varied temperatures, and outside environmental conditions with no protection from the weather for short periods of time; working in research labs that contain hazardous materials; exposure to infrastructure environments such as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing; moving objects weighing 10 to 20 lbs.; and traversing long distances and/or moving from site to site.
The schedule for the position is Monday through Friday, 7:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Will provide weekend supervisory coverage on a rotating basis.
