Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Department of African American and Africana Studies (AAAS) seeks a graduate student (hourly) to assist with grading undergraduate students’ work, including but not limited to exams, quizzes, and papers. While the course grader will not be expected to attend classes, they will maintain regular communication with the instructional team that services the Gen Ed courses in AAAS. (Graduate Student hourly, 20% FTE, average 8 hours/week.)

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Current UMD graduate student.

Experience:
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Experience evaluating undergraduate student work in alignment with a rubric.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Canvas-ELMS.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Background in African American and African Studies, American Studies, Sociology, History, English, or related field.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Great organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
