Job Description
Library Assistant - North Campus
Essential Job Functions:
- Responsible for library circulation including registering new patrons/students, checking in and out materials, issuing student ID’s, issuing TexShare cards, process daily Tex Express packages, reserve item processing, and maintaining complete and accurate records.
- Responsible for Serials including receiving current issues, claiming missing issues and communicating with vendors.
- Posting of overdue book fines and lost item fees to Banner.
- Runs daily reports in Argos to reconcile fines and fees with Sierra (ILS).
- Prepares reports for Director including: laptop usage, TexExpress, fines and late fees, Interlibrary loan statistics, patron count, etc.
- Processes Inter Library Loan requests by using First Search, the Online Library Catalogue, Sierra ILS, and maintains accurate lending records in excel, preparing materials for mailing or delivery.
- Communicates with patrons regarding requests, overdue fines, lost book fees etc.
- Lead part-time service desk staff (student assistant and work study) as required by library supervisor.
- Assist with special library projects including inventory, book displays, special exhibits, oversee shelving and shelf reading and withdrawing library materials as needed.

- Ability to work with MS office and integrated library systems (Sierra or other ILS).
- Ability to work in Banner.
- Ability to work in Argos.
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education:
- Associate Degree
Required Experience:
- Two years’ library or office experience
Preferred Experience:
- Two years’ experience in an academic library
NOTE: The duties of this position require a physical presence at the assigned on-site work location during unrestricted operations with very limited or no opportunity for remote work arrangements.
Salary Grade: 103
