**Job Summary:**
The Chief of Police is a high-level law enforcement position responsible for leading and overseeing the department's operations, ensuring public safety, and enforcing laws and regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of law enforcement procedures, community policing, and conflict management.
**Duties:**
- Serve as the highest-ranking officer in the department, providing strategic guidance and leadership to all members.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to promote a safe and effective law enforcement environment.
- Oversee the department's budget and resources, ensuring that all expenditures align with the department's goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies, government officials, and community organizations to foster a cooperative and coordinated effort to combat crime and maintain public safety.
- Conduct investigations into serious crimes, including those involving criminal activity, immigration law violations, and animal abuse.
- Review and analyze police reports, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and complete.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with the community, addressing concerns and providing reassurance.
- Demonstrate a commitment to first aid and CPR, ensuring that all department members are trained in these critical skills.
- Possess a valid certificate in law enforcement, such as a Peace Officer Certification.
**Experience:**
- Proven experience as a law enforcement officer, with a strong background in criminal investigation and conflict management.
- Prior experience in a senior leadership position is highly desirable.
- Ability to drive and operate a police vehicle in a safe and responsible manner.
- Familiarity with animal handling and the procedures for handling animals in a law enforcement context.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $33.75 per hour
