Job Description
Job Responsibilities
  • Develop a suite of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genetic markers derived from large whole genome resequencing datasets.
  • Create and validate new real-time PCR (rtPCR) assays to discriminate closely related locust and grasshopper species that will be rapidly deployable, highly reproducible, and accurate across time and space.
  • Analyze data, assist with preparation and presentation of reports and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders and collaborators in both the public and private sectors.
  • Provide training and mentorship to graduate students and undergrad research assistants.
  • Other duties as required.
 
Required Education
  • PhD in related field.
 
Preferred Experience:
  • Expertise in molecular biology techniques including DNA/RNA extractions, PCR and qRT-PCR.
 
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.
