Assistant Vice President for Learning and Academic Affairs

Salary: $115,000

The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a full-time Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs in our Learning and Academic Affairs division. The Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs is responsible for setting the standard for intellectual engagement, academic integrity, and accomplishment by providing strategic vision for and operational leadership of the academic unit in conjunction with the Vice President and co-Assistant Vice President. They provide collaborative, strategic, innovative, and visionary leadership in development of the Academic Plan in support of the College’s Strategic Plan. They also provide inclusive and collegial leadership supporting innovative change in advancement of the College’s Mission, Vision and Values.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Conducts all responsibilities in a manner that is welcoming, friendly, respectful, cooperative, and collaborative to students, colleagues, and community partners;
  • Fosters a collaborative and high-performing environment supportive of the College mission and vision and participates in the development and implementation of College policies, procedures, and guidelines;
  • Ensures academic and pedagogical quality of the College’s programs;
  • Advises the Vice President for Learning and Academic Affairs on instructional matters and priorities, develops and recommends institutional policies;
  • Supervises and evaluates Deans and Directors, as appropriate;
  • Recommends staffing and hiring needs to the Vice President for Learning and Academic Affairs. Participates in the design of recruitment activities to attract qualified full-time and part-time staff;
  • Develops and maintains a variety of professional and community relationships to insure an awareness of and responsiveness to community educational needs and to build strong program-level Advisory Committees in conjunction with the Vice President for Learning and Academic Affairs;
  • Provides oversight and leadership for early college high school programs;
  • Provides oversight, leadership, and tracking of all grant activity in the Academic Unit;
  • Promotes excellence in faculty and staff teaching, service, professional growth and development;
  • Researches, adapts and engages faculty in the implementation of best practices in pedagogy and praxis;
  • Analyzes data and trends in enrollment, program completion rates, budgets, methods of delivery, transfer and employment viability and other indicators to assess the health and vibrancy of academic programs and courses in the process of evaluating programmatic offerings;
  • Monitors and addresses the consistency of policies and practice across the Academic Unit;
  • Develops and administers the academic unit and school budgets and maintains fiscal accountability;
  • Works with the Deans, co-Assistant Vice President and Vice President for Learning and Academic Affairs Office to maximize physical, human, and technological resources;
  • Coordinates with the Grants Team to leverage grant funding for the Academic Unit’s needs;
  • Builds supportive and cooperative working partnerships with other departments and divisions within the College in support of a connected and engaging student experience;
  • Assists with college-wide events including but not limited to commencement ceremonies, open houses, and orientations;
  • Performs such other duties as required by the Vice President for Learning and Academic Affairs.

 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree
  • Teaching experience and progressively higher levels of administrative experience
  • Strong commitment to the mission of the College, demonstrated ability to lead, communicate and motivate in support of the community college’s academic vision
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering high academic standards and programming that meets the needs of the students and community, experience in developing and managing budgets, and experience with office software and technology
  • Experience developing and supporting faculty and staff, and promoting student success
  • Ability to build community, education and in-house and community-wide partnerships, and lead and collaborate on team efforts
