Senior Hydrogeologist

A Senior Hydrogeologist is an experienced professional specializing in the study and management of groundwater resources. They are responsible for conducting complex hydrogeological assessments, designing, and overseeing groundwater monitoring and remediation projects, and interpreting hydrogeological data to inform environmental and engineering decisions. Their work often involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to ensure sustainable and safe water resource management. Senior Hydrogeologists also mentor junior staff, contribute to technical reports and proposals, and stay updated with advancements in hydrogeology and related fields.

  • Estimated Starting Salary Range for Senior Hydrogeologist: Pay commensurate with experience.

Senior Hydrogeologist Responsibilities Include:

  • Review of installation technical reports submitted by other contractors, and coordination and consultation on behalf of Army installations in the planning and execution of complicated contaminated groundwater investigation remediation work, etc.
  • Provide technical reviews of soil/groundwater restoration projects on behalf of the Government to meet the requirements of the Army's Environmental Program. Assist the installation with the development and implementation of environmental guidance, coordinating efforts with representatives of federal, state and local regulatory agencies, program executing agencies, and/or other Contractor representatives.
  • Provide technical assistance to the installations in support of performance-based contract/acquisition activities at the installations, to include field activities. Coordination may be accomplished by phone conversations, written correspondence or on-site meetings. Restoration support tasks are installation specific and include yearly data call, Web-Based Compliance Assessment and Sustainment System Enterprise (WEBCASS-e), Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) meetings, public meetings, regulatory meetings, and document reviews.
  • Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and team members to ensure project goals are met.
  • Design and oversee the execution of field investigations and data collection.
  • Conduct site assessments, including drilling, sampling, and aquifer testing.
  • Analyze hydrogeological data, including groundwater flow patterns and quality assessments.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in hydrogeology and related fields.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Senior Hydrogeologist Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • A college degree in engineering, geology, chemistry, or related field.
  • Professional registration, in their respective field, as appropriate.
  • Ten (10) years' experience in technical leadership for other contracts/programs with a minimum of five (5) years working experience in hydrogeology.
  • Experience with geologic media and the stated understanding of the science of contaminant fate and transport is critical to the success of the program.
  • Proven track record of managing and leading complex hydrogeological projects.
  • Experience in groundwater modeling, site assessment, and remediation.
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies and understanding of environmental regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting hydrogeological data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with clients, regulatory agencies, and team members.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work.
  • Ability to conduct thorough and precise field investigations and data analysis.
