General Summary

The Associate Vice President of Student Services and Enrollment Management (SSEM) reports to the Vice President of Student Services and Enrollment Management and works closely with college leadership to develop, implement and evaluate strong enrollment services practices in the areas of admissions, records, financial aid, testing, career and transfer. The Associate Vice President will be responsible for developing, delivering and strengthening enrollment services practices and opportunities that facilitate student success throughout the pathway from entry, progress, completion, transfer or placement.

Specific Position Duties

Provide organization and administration of the various enrollment services functions of the College, including personnel supervision and long-range strategic, operational and budgetary planning for the following departments or initiatives: Wrangler Express Center (admissions and call center), records, financial aid, testing, career and transfer

Develop, refine, strengthen, implement, and evaluate strategies to manage and meet institutional enrollment, persistence, graduation, transfer and placement targets

Research, implement, and refine technology solutions/enhancements

Manage and evaluate outbound calls, email and text communication with prospective, current, returning and former students regarding dates, deadlines and opportunities

Coordinate with college leadership to ensure timely and appropriate compliance to Texas legislative, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), Southern Association College and School Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), Department of Education (DOE) and/or regulatory requirements that impact student and enrollment services including but not limited to admissions, records, financial aid and testing

Develop and implement new programs and services in response to the needs of students, in collaboration with the Vice President of SSEM

Maintains confidentiality of information exposed to in the course of business regarding students, supervisors or other employees

Serves as the Chief Student Services Officer in the absence of the Vice President

Supports college activities and special events through attendance and/or participation

Use interpersonal skills and make sound judgments

Carries out other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree in subject(s) related to education and five or more years’ experience in college administration/or equivalent. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:

A strong commitment to the mission of the community college

A strong knowledge of student and enrollment services functions including but not limited to admissions, records, financial aid and testing

Proven knowledge of removing barriers and improving the student experience

Ability to effectively supervise and motivate personnel

Knowledge of the rules, regulations and principles of the THECB, SACSCOC and DOE as well as other state and federal laws and regulations regarding student and enrollment services

Strong computer skills

Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations

Excellent supervisory, administrative, communication, interpersonal and leadership skills

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; define problems, collect and interpret data; and effectively present information to college leaders and direct reports

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate in subject related to education or leadership; Publication(s) on any subjects broadly related to education; History of presentations to local, state and/or national education-related organizations; Membership in one or more professional societies related to education.
