General Summary

The Executive Director of Extension Areas manages overall relations and operations of all extension areas. The role will be located at the Odessa main campus, however, will travel to extension sites when needed. The person will direct and coordinate the development of academic programs, resource development and allocation, and human resource development. The person will serve as liaison between outside organizations, extension area communities, and the main campus. 

Specific Position Duties

• Creates and implements goals, strategic plans, policies, and procedures for the extension areas. 
• Evaluates effectiveness of academic and operational programs by developing metrics of success. 
• Assists in the hiring of adjunct instructors to teach in the extension areas. 
• Serves as the primary contact for the Monahans Center. 
• Advises and registers students from the extension areas. 
• Increases the enrollment in the communities within the extension areas 
• Manages enrollment and persistence in the extension areas. 
• Assists the Pecos Center in the development of Continuing Education programs and in the recruitment of students. 
• Serves as the liaison to and communicates regularly with extension area governmental entities, community/civic groups, prospective students and their parents, prospective funding agencies, and the general public. 
• Manages budgets and resources to deliver programs to the extension areas. 
• Engages in committee work on the main campus. 
• Performs all other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

• Completed Bachelor degree from an accredited institution. 
• Master degree preferred. 

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to reach out in the community and to present to small and large groups alike. 
• Ability to critically think through challenges and to deliver Odessa College’s programs to all communities in the extension area. 
• Knowledge of Odessa College, its programs, and community colleges in general. 
• Skill in organization, budget preparation, and management. 
• Knowledge of and ability to develop curriculum, academic programs, delivery methods, etc. 
• Ability to effectively communicate with governmental leaders. 
• Ability to meet with and advise large numbers of students across the service area.
